The performance Chapter 2, V. W. (2013) by Itziar Okariz is the repeated reading of an extract from a book, where in each repetition the first word of the text of the previous reading is subtracted consecutively until the text disappears.

This performance arose as a result of an invitation to read an excerpt from Virginia Wolf’s A Room of One’s Own. The selected paragraph describes a landscape that contracts with each subtraction in each consecutive repetition, until it vanishes. Each time it is repeated, the emphasis is placed on a different element of the narrative, making the public aware of each significant element down to the smallest units of meaning.

Itziar Okariz presented this performance at Artium Museoa on April 26, 2022, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary celebration.
